Told there is no way this isn’t oesophagus cancer
Advised to cut down on the alcohol – yeah right
More tests required to see if it’s terminal 😦

Given a list of the chemo side effects…there are hundreds 😐
4/02/2019Laparoscopy confirms it has not spread – a good day
This means it’s treatable šŸ™‚
7/02/2019Picc line inserted into John’s arm – will remain there for a year
First round of chemo – 5 hours of treatment
No bad side effects – as yet šŸ™‚

Next 3 rounds of chemo – side effects kick in
Food tastes bitter and is like a paste
Tingling in hands – can’t touch cold things like my heart
Nerve damage in foot so can’t walk properly
Needs loads of sleep to recover from each round

Meet with Surgeon
Operation scheduled for the 13th of May
It’s a 12 hour operation
50% chance the cancer could return within 2 – 4 years
10/4/2019Meet with oncologist
Advice given on nerve damage in foot
Includes walks on the beach – not by himself šŸ™‚
11/4/2019CT scan
Looks like tumour has shrunk šŸ™‚
– but that’s us interpreting from MyHealth 😐
30/4/2019Pre-op assessment completed – everything looks fine šŸ™‚

  2. Hi Lisa have just seen this! You have obviously been through the mill this year so sorry to hear that John is battling cancer. I have been a support person for a friend over here. She was diagnosed with bowel cancer had an operation and 12 chemotherapy treatments. She has just had the all clear. Such a tough time! Thinking of you all with much love Dee 😘
