Yesterday the hospital called us in to a meeting that we weren’t quite sure what it was about. The guts of it was that they think John will be ready to leave the hospital mid next week. The district nurse is concerned about the stairs in our house an the level of care John needs just now. The want to organise short stay care in a rest home for a couple of weeks until he gets stronger.

The other thing they wanted to talk about was alcohol consumption and the impact on the brain. They want John to stop drinking and for all alcohol to be removed from the house. That could be challenging. John is looking alot better and is steadier on his feet. He’s had some blood transfusions as white blood cell count is down. They can’t start chemo again until he stops getting a temperature and the blood count is up.
